Learn more about our flexible approach to where we work.<br><br><strong>Overview<br><br></strong>About the Team<br><br>Instacart’s Commercial Analytics Team sits within the Commercial Organization; at the intersection of Instacart’s unparalleled industry data, our most important grocery and non-grocery retail partnerships, and vast CPG category data. The team’s mission statement is to expand our understanding of platform and market growth trends and leverage these insights to grow and unlock new partnerships across the organization.<br><br><strong>About The Role<br><br></strong>This Insights Manager will sit within the Commercial Analytics Team and focus on leveraging data and analytics across our Commercial partnerships to inform critical decision-making. This is a generalist role focused on leveraging internal and external third-party data to influence internal business decision making, conduct market intelligence, and unlock growth across a set of Instacart’s most strategic partnerships and categories.<br><br>You will strive to understand the dynamics of the marketplace through descriptive analysis, tackle ambiguous problems, and provide internal teams with the tools to answer “how did the business perform?”, “why did it perform that way?”, and "how can we improve performance?" You will be a subject matter expert on macro business, operational, and customer trends. This role is primarily internal-facing, with Commercial leadership as the primary stakeholder.<br><br><strong>About The Job<br><br></strong><ul><li>Leverage data and analytics to gain a deep understanding of our business, uncover short and long-term trends, and help drive critical business decision-making for internal commercial leadership</li><li>Automate and scale repetitive data-driven processes for partner-facing teams across the organization, leveraging AI where applicable</li><li>Analyze third-party transaction data to monitor Instacart’s positioning in the online and overall grocery market, owning our internal point of view for leadership and investors</li><li>Partner with our strategic Commercial teams to provide data-driven perspective and analysis on emerging Instacart products and offerings to help strengthen go-to-market strategy</li><li>Conduct deep-dive analyses on high-interest topics through a Commercial lens to uncover growth opportunities across the organization</li><li>Distill complex analyses into succinct takeaways and present findings to Commercial leadership and key cross-functional partners across the company<br><br></li></ul><strong>About You<br><br></strong>Minimum Qualifications<br><br><ul><li>3+ years work experience in a quantitative business strategy role. This is a great opportunity for those with experience in Consulting, Banking, Analytics, or similar roles. Experience with retail and e-commerce a plus</li><li>Proficient SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools experience. Ability to write complex, efficient, and eloquent SQL queries to extract data</li><li>Ability to tell stories with data: navigate a vast database, pull together the relevant datasets using SQL, conduct analysis on the data to extract the key insights, and then assemble those insights into a compelling narrative and communicate it effectively to key stakeholders </li><li>Strong analytical skills; ability to logically reason through a complex problem step by step and identify pitfalls</li><li>Strong attention to detail and passion for efficiency; ability to build scalable, automated data processes</li><li>Ability to deal with ambiguity; a self-starter with the ability to quickly respond to problems independently, consider all stakeholder needs, and answer the “so what” questions</li><li>Polished communication skills, executive presence, and ability to manage a number of senior stakeholder relationships<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>Experience with data modelling (dbt, Airflow), git, and Python</li><li>Familiarity with AI/ML concepts<br><br></li></ul>Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location. Please review our Flex First remote work policy here.
