NLHS - Western Zone is seeking the services of a salaried, Family Physician to work with the Regional Virtual Care Clinic servicing the Western Zone, Newfoundland and Labrador. This position includes clinical and administrative duties involving family practice and is a member of the Corner Brook/Bay of Islands Family Care Team. Collaborative team support will be provided from the Regional Virtual Care Clinic as well as Family Care Teams throughout the Western Zone. The regional referral centre for NLHS – Western Zone is Western Memorial Regional Hospital, a 164-bed facility that provides services to a population base of approximately 80,000 people. We are affiliated with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Faculty of Medicine, and we encourage and support academic interests.

This position will provide virtual Primary Care services and clinical coverage in the Western Zone. The Physician is part of an interdisciplinary team working closely with Western Zone Family Care Team Hub and spoke sites responsible for Primary Health Care services based on the needs of the population. Providers delivering care virtually must be familiar with and adhere to professional practice standards, including the standard of care for virtual care. Virtual Care expectations include regular use of telephone, video to home, and video to clinic (including enhanced virtual assessment with the support of on-site health care staff and/or digital peripheral devices). Virtual care providers are responsible to ensure they have a safe and appropriate work environment to effectively deliver health care services including reliable internet access, equipment and privacy.

Qualifications Required: Medical Degree, eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL) and satisfy credentialing requirements of Western Health's Discipline of Family Practice. Minimum of 2 years experience in related work is an asset.

Hours of Work: 80 hours biweekly

Remuneration: The General Practice Salary Scale ranges from $198,724.00 to $215,097.00 as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines will officially determine a Physician’s step assignment with yearly progression thereafter.

An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA. Additional benefits are available.
