The VDC Associate II prepares, organizes, and presents various documents to meet project delivery and close-out requirements. This position works in conjunction with Systems Designers/Engineers and the Project Management team to clearly communicate technical deliverables for project work and to prove fit and suitability of our product offering within the client and project environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare detail design documents in a thorough and professional manner during the project execution cycle. Documentation work may include preparing plot plans, elevation drawings, point-to-point wiring details, and finalized bills of material.
  • Produce network architecture diagrams, server compute and storage calculations, power and heat consumption calculations under the guidance of systems designers and engineers.
  • Produce as-built drawings and technical close-out documents of physical security and building technologies including supporting networking, server and storage architectures in collaboration with technicians, subcontractors, project managers, and design stakeholders.
  • Maintain all documentation in current and professional state throughout the duration of contracts within Paladin Technologies’ document management repositories.
  • Work closely with engineers and technicians to develop robust and professional designs, standardized and consistent documentation packages, and tools to assist in preparation of sales collateral.
  • Be prompt, enthusiastic and take direction from project managers and engineers
  • Multi-task and manage time effectively to prioritize projects, tasks, and meetings as necessary
  • Adhere to Paladin Technologies’ documentation standards
  • Identify, establish, and document processes to support design efficiency and scalability
  • Be extremely focused on details and quality of work
  • Develop productive relationships with clients and key stakeholders which will build respect and confidence in the organization’s capabilities.
  • Understand and maintain an awareness of the productivity and profitability of work carried out by the organization
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of drafting and design experience in the information technology, instrumentation and controls, electronics, and/or security industries
  • Post secondary education from an accredited college, university or technical institution in Electronics, Information Technology or related field
  • Ability to create aesthetically pleasing, legible, and accessible drawings.
  • Experience with the following technologies is required:
    • AutoCAD, Revit, Revizto, Bluebeam Revu, Windows desktop operating system, Microsoft Office
  • Experience with the following technologies is an asset:
    • Navisworks, IP networks, low voltage electronics, power and communications.
  • A strong understanding of the physical security and/or technology industries, including an awareness of complimentary products, technologies, trends, and the general application of physical security technology
  • An understanding of and experience with fundamental concepts pertaining to IP networks, low voltage electronics, power, and communications
  • A strong command of the English language supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projects and be responsive to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Post-secondary education from an accredited college, university, or technical institution in Business, Construction Management, Electronics, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • Motivated self-starter with ambition to independently research new technologies as well as engineering and business methodologies/concepts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with the following technologies:
    • Access Control, CCTV (IP and Analog), Intrusion Systems, Client-Server security applications, MS SQL databases, Servers and Storage Arrays, Revit, or Microsoft Visio
  • Field experience in a construction environment
