The most important aspect of our company’s operations is our dedicated people; our people will always be the source of our success and their safety and health will always come first.<br><br><strong>Job Title: </strong>Operations Supervisor<br><br><strong>Department: </strong>Terminal Operations<br><br><strong>Reports to: </strong>Terminal Manager<br><br><strong>Summary<br><br></strong>The Operations Supervisor is a hands-on position that assists the terminal manager with day-to-day operations of the terminal. Activities include but not limited to; overseeing dispatch, Dock operations and City P&D operations, ensuring business operations are efficient, effective and meet overall customer standards. Would work varying shifts of the operations to ensure processes are being followed and maintained.<br><br><strong>Duties And Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Assists in leading the operations to the fullest capacity to meet the needs of customers </li><li>Provides positive customer service to all internal and external customers</li><li>Supervises, coach, teach and mentor employees in all areas of operations including safety, efficiency in runs, loading and unloading trucks, claim management, and equipment and yard management </li><li>Ensures staff levels are acceptable for optimal productivity and performance including coverage of dispatch and in lieu of Foreman as needed</li><li>Monitors freight movement to ensure maximum load factors and service levels to minimize claims</li><li>Communicates regularly with Terminal Manager on opportunities and risks to the business</li><li>Works with all employees to ensure smooth operations under all conditions</li><li>Participates and performs in other dock and dispatch duties as required </li><li>Performs all other duties as assigned and required</li><li>Tracks, monitors and reports on all key KPI’s that include productivity, utilization and service levels</li><li>Minimizes severity and frequency of accidents of contractors, drivers and dock personnel through risk identification process</li><li>Plans work schedules to ensure adequate staffing requirements</li><li>Develops and executes training plans for dock lead hand employees</li><li>Manages inventory of tools and supplies to reduce risk, loss and damage</li><li>Practices Safe work procedures and ensures the team does the same</li><li>Assists as needed in all areas that affect the operations goals and objectives; thereby, the company goals and objectives<br><br></li></ul><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Responsible for leading and managing the terminal team<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>Ideally, candidates have 2-5 years operational experience</li><li>Ideally, 2–5 years with experience with CLI</li><li>Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills</li><li>Must be flexible and agile to react to the needs of the business</li><li>Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks</li><li>Able to work under pressure and manage critical and unplanned requirements</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills to foster and build working relationships with a diverse workforce, in addition to vendors, contractors, and suppliers. </li><li>Competent ability and capacity to get the job done through a hands on approach. </li><li>Experience using all Microsoft Office programs and logistics software</li><li>Working knowledge of WHMIS and the Health & Safety Act<br><br></li></ul><strong>Physical Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>You will be required to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods</li><li>Must be able to operate dock power equipment; operation of power equipment on a regular daily basis</li><li>Lift up and move up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to maneuver</li><li>Need a good sense of balance with hand and foot coordination with ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights.</li><li>Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season</li><li>Must wear PPE at all times<br><br></li></ul>As a member of the management team, it is the expectation that you are responsible for meeting the business needs, including working irregular hours and schedules from time to time.<br><br><em>At Gardewine, we are committed to continually improving our approach to building a diverse, inclusive, and value driven workplace.
