Shipping & Receiving Manager

As the Manager, Shipping and Receiving, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the receiving department and contributing to company objectives through the handling, care, storage and distribution of goods to ensure that customer service standards are maintained, enabling achievement of sales and profitability of the store. The Manager, Shipping and Receiving, will maintain efficient flow of merchandise from the receiving door to the sales floor while ensuring a high degree of inventory integrity.

Description of Job Responsibilities:Merchandise/Receiving:

  • Receives merchandise to the store and local deliveries and ensures proper documentation of the receiving and return of goods. Responsible for unloading of trucks, accurate piece count, and date-stamping of boxes.
  • Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking. Ensure proper receiving standards are followed as per S.O.P. Ensure proper procedures followed for shortages/overages.
  • GT audit awareness and compliance on everything involving the shipping and receiving functions. Should be able to complete the portion of the self audit that applies to their role. Identify areas of opportunities and action plan with management team.
  • Organizes the backroom, assembles and displays pre-packs. Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulations.
  • Complete planogram adjustments and ensures signage and talkers are displayed according to operating standards.
  • Assist with proper merchandising execution to maximize sales, earnings, and customer satisfaction.
  • Support in developing floor standards, visual merchandising, customer service standards, and sales techniques.
  • Handle product transfers to other store locations, incoming and outgoing.
  • Track shipments and verify receipts of shipments as required.
  • Responsible for the completion of cycle counts and following the SSC cycle count schedule.
  • Responsible for RTV's and follow ups with RTV's.
  • Tracks and follows up on Special Orders.
  • Ensure actual inventory on hand is received accurately and matches the count in the inventory management system. Manage any negative on hand (NOH) items to ensure accurate inventory in the inventory manager system.
  • Supporting the business depending on the needs, which could include MOD, customer service or assisting on the sales floor.
  • Pricing and tagging incoming product with a high level of detail.
  • Assisting with inventory adjustments and price changes.

Essential Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A high school education and computer literacy skills is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant retail sales experience.
  • 1-3 years of previous experience in receiving is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
  • An ability to lift repetitively, an ability to display according to operating standards and maintain the shop ability of the store. Must be able to lift, bend and carry objects on a continuous basis (Must be able to lift 20-25lbs)
  • Must be able to use necessary equipment (ex. Pump truck)
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently.
  • Must wear safety shoes.
Work Hours:
  • Flex schedule - some weekends and evenings.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
