Production Lead - Supplement Manufacturing

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Production Lead to oversee daily manufacturing operations. This role ensures batches are produced safely, consistently, and efficiently while meeting regulatory (Health Canada) and in-house quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in food or supplement production and strong leadership skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Management & Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end manufacturing processes (cooking, depositing, curing, coating, demolding, packaging).
  • Prepare and scale formulas according to batch records and SOPs.
  • Operate and troubleshoot production equipment (cookers, mixers, depositors, kettles, dryers, tumblers, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate measurements, timing, and temperature controls throughout the process.
  • Adjust production parameters to maintain product consistency.
  • Coordinate daily production schedules to meet deadlines.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all products comply with cGMP, Health Canada, and internal quality standards.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks (pH, texture, weight, moisture, uniformity).
  • Report and investigate deviations or non-conformance.
  • Maintain strict hygiene and sanitation standards.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and coach production staff on equipment operation and SOPs.
  • Delegate tasks and monitor workflow.
  • Ensure safe work practices and enforce safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively across production, QA, and management teams.

Maintenance & Continuous Improvement

  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs.
  • Recommend process improvements for efficiency, consistency, and waste reduction.
  • Monitor raw material usage and inventory levels.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in food manufacturing, nutraceuticals, or confectionery production (gummy/gel confection experience is a strong asset).
  • Ability to read formulas, batch records, and SOPs.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Basic math skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs and work on your feet for long periods.
  • Mechanical aptitude with production equipment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts or overtime if needed.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with automated gummy depositing lines.
  • Knowledge of Health Canada regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in supplement or pharmaceutical settings.
  • Strong problem-solving and process optimization skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
