Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist

St. Clement’s School (SCS) is currently seeking a Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist (Specialist) to join our team. The Specialist is one of our resident storytellers and photographers. This role is responsible for creating engaging and on-brand content in order to effectively share the stories of SCS utilizing skills in copywriting, photojournalism, videography, graphic design, and editing. The Specialist plays an important role in the planning, development, and execution of SCS’s marketing and communication strategies to ensure they are meaningful, reflect brand values, and connect with audiences across print and digital mediums. Varied, creative strategies will be required as this role must effectively communicate with a number of different audiences, including current families, prospective families, donors, and alums. Working as part of the Advancement Department, the Specialist is a member of the Communications team, which provides marketing and communication support to the full school. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring a consistent look, feel, and voice for our website, social media, e-newsletters, and other communication materials. With both a creative and analytical mindset, the Specialist has a keen eye for detail and a passion for ideating, executing, and tracking engaging social media campaigns and web content.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Collaborate on planning and implement a comprehensive, unified, and engaging strategic digital media action plan to increase engagement, followers and brand awareness across school accounts. Create on-brand video, print, and digital content that reflects the strategic vision and spirit of SCS.</li><li>Manage the School’s digital communications ensuring integration of all communications on site, online, and across multiple social media platforms.</li><li>Track and analyze social media metrics, providing regular reports to the team that use data to inform future strategies.</li><li>Seek out content opportunities from the SCS community, and provide strategic input and creative focus for its leverage across platforms.</li><li>Graphic design, such as promotional materials (school events), social media graphics, and branded pieces.</li><li>Manage and maintain the SCS website with ongoing reviews and updates to content, including coding for new page development and corrections.</li><li>Lead the development and delivery of our weekly and monthly e-newsletters (enews , Community News), alum newsletter (SCS Connect) and other electronic communications.</li><li>Proactively identify and source content, capturing compelling stories and visuals through staying current with and actively monitoring ongoing school events and activities.</li><li>Collaborate with various school departments (Admissions, Athletics, Arts, Student Life, etc.) to source and create content for social media and communications materials.</li><li>Attend and post about school events and activities, which sometimes take place outside regular school hours.</li><li>Stay current on emerging social media trends, tools, and best practices.</li><li>Photography and videography capture for fundraising, school activities, and alum relations.</li><li>Video capture for creation of digital content for use on social media, and other uses (responsible for concept, design, development, and production).</li><li>Create and execute promotional plans as required across platforms and teams.</li><li>Maintain the Communications team’s content calendar.</li><li>Other related duties as assigned.</li><li>Occasional evening and weekend work required.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications, Experience And Attributes Of Our Ideal Candidate<br><br></strong><ul><li>Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field; </li><li>5 years relevant work experience;</li><li>Experience with website management using a content management system;</li><li>Proven photography and videography skills including experience with the ability to shoot, edit, and publish high quality content;</li><li>Digital content creation experience including excellent visual storytelling, writing, and editing abilities;</li><li>Strong creative writing, editing, and proofreading skills;</li><li>Experience in content creation and growth of social media platforms;</li><li>Capacity to write code and strength with a variety of software and programs including: WordPress, MailChimp, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Graduway; and capacity to quickly learn and master new programs and platform;</li><li>Strong awareness of the current digital media landscape, along with the capacity and willingness to seek out emerging trends and tools, in order to evaluate their potential impact on the School and the ways SCS communicates; </li><li>Willingness to become immersed in daily school life at SCS and proactively seek out story angles and content;</li><li>Ability to handle confidential material and situations with discretion and sensitivity;</li><li>Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple tasks while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy;</li><li>Resourceful and flexible with strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills; and</li><li>Criminal record check is required as a condition of employment.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Compensation And Benefits<br><br></strong>The salary range for this position is between $68,000 - $76,000 per annum, in addition to a comprehensive benefits plan and generous vacation time.<br><br><strong>About Our School<br><br></strong>As a leading independent girls’ school in Toronto, St. Clement’s School is recognized for its longstanding commitment to academic rigour and excellence in a small, nurturing environment.
