Advanced Welder - Structural

Our client is seeking highly skilled and certified Advanced Welders specializing in structural fabrication for a large-scale project in Jacksonville, Florida, US . This is an opportunity to work on critical infrastructure components, demanding precision, expertise, and adherence to stringent quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of various welding processes, including but not limited to Stick (SMAW), MIG (GMAW), and TIG (GTAW), with extensive experience in welding heavy structural steel. Responsibilities include interpreting complex blueprints and technical drawings, preparing materials for welding, performing high-quality welds on critical joints, and conducting self-inspections to ensure compliance with specifications. You must be proficient in operating welding equipment, maintaining tools, and adhering to all safety protocols on site. The ability to work efficiently and independently, while also collaborating effectively with a team of fabricators and construction professionals, is essential. This role requires a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to producing durable and reliable structural welds. Certification by recognized bodies such as AWS is mandatory. This is a demanding, hands-on role suited for experienced professionals seeking challenging and rewarding work.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform advanced welding operations on structural steel components using various welding techniques (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW). Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately complete welding tasks. Prepare metal surfaces for welding, ensuring proper fit-up and alignment. Ensure welds meet required strength, quality, and appearance standards. Conduct self-inspections and troubleshoot any welding defects. Operate and maintain welding machinery, tools, and safety equipment. Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, site protocols, and quality control procedures. Work collaboratively with fabrication teams, project managers, and site supervisors. Fabricate and assemble metal structures as per project requirements. Maintain accurate work logs and documentation as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified welding program preferred. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Structural Welder. Current AWS D1.1 certification (or equivalent) is mandatory. Proficiency in multiple welding processes, particularly on structural steel. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings. Strong understanding of metallurgy and welding principles. Excellent physical condition and manual dexterity, with the ability to work in various positions and environments. Commitment to safety and quality excellence.
